Keri getting SURC award 2_7_2015Keri won a prize for her talk in the Physical and Analytical Chemistry section of the Southeastern Undergraduate Research Conference (SURC), which was held on February 7th at the University of Alabama. She presented data on her project binding porphyrins to core/shell gold/CdS and gold/ZnS nanoparticles to enhance their extinction coefficients.

On December 8, 2014 Danielle successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation entitled:

“Exploring Exciton and Trap State Recombination Dynamics in Cadmium Sulfide Quantum Dots.”

In her these, Danielle successfully built a compelling picture to describe the states involved in excitation dynamics in these materials. Stay tuned for an article on CdS in the coming months.

Multipulse time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy

Categories: New article News

Congratulations to Gaurav Singh whose article on a new type of time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy has just been published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry C. This ensemble technique offers a way to probe the recombination dynamics of multi-excited states (biexcitons, trions, etc) in colloidal quantum dots. The paper describes the technique and demonstrates its ability to resolve trion emission in a sample of CdSe/CdS core/shell quantum dots.

New article on TOPO-CdSe binding

Categories: New article News

Congratulations to Scott Williams, whose article, on the binding of TOPO to CdSe quantum dots has just been published in the Journal of Physical Chemistry. It includes the first demonstration of Isothermal Titration Calorimetry to determine the binding constants of ligands on colloidal nanocrystals.
